Job Description

About rag & bone
From our origins in New York in 2002, rag & bone was founded on a belief of uncompromising ideals: a commitment to doing things the right way, not the easy way. To making things that are as original as they are timeless. To being true to ourselves, even when that truth sets us apart from the mainstream.
We still believe in the same principles we started with: the easy elegance of classic British tailoring, the authenticity of American workwear, and the originality of our home city, New York. As New Yorkers, community and authenticity have become synonymous with our brand. An inclusive environment at rag & bone upholds our original values by encouraging employee connection and empowering each individual to have a voice on policy, process and collaboration for a more equitable future.

Job Summary:
The Women's Merchant, Outlet owns Cut & Sew and RTW product development and assortment strategy for the Women's Outlet business across all channels, from pre-season strategy through in-season execution. • Partner with Planning on financial plans, investment strategy, and inventory needs; own pricing strategy to maximize sales, margin, and SKU productivity
  • Brief Design on the seasonal roadmap, including category needs, key items, flow, pricing, and AUC; provide ongoing commercial feedback through design reviews and development
  • Present strategy to cross-functional partners and leadership; own key milestones and timely decision-making across the seasonal calendar
In-Season
  • Manage the business day-to-day, including sales, inventory, margin, and markdowns, identifying risks and opportunities with Planning and Allocation
  • Analyze performance by category, style, color, and channel, and act by chasing, expanding, repositioning, or exiting product as needed
  • Track competitive and customer trends to inform real-time recommendations
  • Partner with Design and Production on execution issues, and with Marketing, Visual, E-commerce, and Stores to elevate key items and seasonal stories across touchpoints
  • Report performance and recommendations to leadership; feed in-season learnings back into future line plans
Requirements: (skills, qualifications, education, etc)
  • 6+ years of experience in merchant or buying roles in apparel/fashion retail; women's apparel experience strongly preferred

  • Proven grasp of assortment strategy, line planning, and retail buying/financial fundamentals, including sales, margin, AUC, pricing, and markdowns
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into clear action
  • Cross-functional leadership and communication skills; comfortable driving decisions in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with merchandising, ERP, or PLM systems a plus
